Could it be an issue with multi-author sites?

When I roll over the link of the author I only get http://www.mysite.com/blog/author/

Great plug-in did just what I needed it to do, but the link to the author returns an error.

Not Found

You tried going to http://www.mysite.com/blog/blog/author/, and it doesn't exist. All is not lost! You can search for what you're looking for.

I get the same error when I try to click on your author name/link on your WP fullsite template. I am using the life-collage template with current hybrid and WP install.

Thanks

I got the same error.

After install I went to settings and it appeared. I check what I wanted to show and saved settings. Then warnings disappeared.

The check marks did not stay checked, so I rechecked them. Saved again. Then all was fine.

I did noticed that on "Pages" with categories unchecked that that the word "in" was being placed int he byline by itself.

I have two things while trying to make my site at jesseroland.info which is my temporary domain name for now.

1.) is there anyway I can make the entire "call to action" box clickable and link to a particular important post (and maybe when hovered over is dimmed)
2.) I would like to put my nav bar on the top over top of my header

P.S. My # 3) It would be awesome to make the call to action a slider with the top 3 or 4 posts making each on clickable and having a forward and backward button with the function of the Boxpulse theme but styling of this one.

Never mind...I realized that it's because Malleable is not built with the Wordpress 3.0 menu support of Hybrid 0.8.

I guess I'll do it myself.

First off - fantastic theme. Just...just great.

The only problem I've run into is the top menu. It doesn't show up at all. Can't figure out why. There are links in the menu, it is set up correctly to be the default menu, and it shows up. There are just no stylings on it for some reason.

Here's a screenshot of the problem: http://img20.imageshack.us/img20/8029/selection006.png

And here is the page: http://metagnosis.net

I have all plugins disabled. Viewing this in Chrome and Firefox 3. Wordpress 3.0.

Hi, this was just answered over at the Hybrid forum:

Hi,

Love your boxpulse theme! I'm sorry if this is a basic question, I'm still new to this. I saw your earlier instructions for how to remove meta data by adding

.byline { display: none; }

to the style.css.

Can I apply this only to posts in a given category and, if so, how?

Thank you!

Hi,
I'm getting an error in the Appearance --> Hybrid Settings page in the Hybrid Byline settings panel:

Warning: array_keys() [function.array-keys]: The first argument should be an array in /home/content/a/e/g/aegnal/html/logistics/wp-content/plugins/hybrid-byline/hybrid-byline.php on line 142

This is a new, clean install of WordPress 3.0 and Hybrid .8 and no other plug-ins are installed other than Akismet and Hybrid Byline. I downloaded Hybrid Byline using the built-in WordPress Add Plug-Ins.

The good news is the plug-in works, despite the error message displayed.

Unfortunatly got the message:

"The current theme does not natively support menus, but you can use the “Custom Menu” widget to add any menus you create here to the theme’s sidebar."

You can put the code anywhere in the file, but for organization's sake just insert it at the bottom.

Any Hybrid updates will continue to work. If there's ever an update to Malleable then your changes would be lost, so make note of any changes you make unless you don't care to upgrade.

I'd love to hear your thoughts on an educational theme. Feel free to use my contact form: http://developdaly.com/contact/

Thanks, Patrick

For the php code for functions.php; do I need to insert it at a specific point in the script, or just add it at the top.

And... by doing this will I mess up anything in either Malleable (if there's an update) or the ThemeHybrid/Malleable connection.

BTW - I have some thoughts on what would constitute a theme for education/schools. Big market and after much research have determined what is universal; but haven't seen out there.
Would like to elaborate as soon as able if it's of interest as a theme you might wish to sell.

1. Its always best to write an actual excerpt, but I know thats tedious. So, to change the ellipses to a "Read More" link, use this in
functions.php
:

add_filter('the_excerpt', 'my_excerpts');
function my_excerpts($content) {
	global $post;
	$more = '<a class="more-link" href="' . get_permalink() . '" title="' . the_title_attribute('echo=0') . '">...read more</a>';
	$content = str_replace('</p>', $more . '</p>', $content);
	return $content;
}

For using
the_content
instead of
the_excerpt
you can use the following in
functions.php
:

add_filter( 'the_excerpt', 'my_category_posts' );

function my_category_posts( $content ) {
	global $post;

	if ( is_category() )
 $content = apply_filters( 'the_content', get_post_field( 'post_content', $post->ID ) );

	return $content;
}

And if you want to remove the thumbnails:

add_filter( 'get_the_image', 'disable_category_thumb' );

function disable_category_thumb( $img ) {
	if ( is_category() )
 $img = '';
	return $img;
}

For Justin's full explanation, see this thread.

2. Yes, the templates will work> However, the CSS doesn't account for the extra templates so none are guaranteed to look correct, though they probably will.

Along the same lines, when I go to a Category page, the items are a set length and are concatenated with [...]. How do I display the entire text if I want to?

Hi Patrick,

I've noticed the same issue with the navigation drop down with child pages and with IE 7. The only change I've made to the CSS is to change out the font and I can't see how that would interfere.

I managed to achieve this using the hybrid hooks.

It's a bit of muking around, but I put the page content in the "After Content" hook, the deleted that hook from the other pages in my blog.

You also need to manually add .css style settings to the content for it to look nice, without them it presses the text hard up against the container.

It really depends on how you're using
get_the_image()
. Take a look at the readme file in the plugin folder -- you can just copy and paste from there.

You'll need to open up
functions.php
. From there, you can comment out various lines from 26-33 that will alter the site. Adding
//
before line 28 will remove search from the header. Then you can use the search widget to add it to the sidebar.

As far as moving the design up, you'd need to remove the site title, description, and address as well.

Gotcha. This should work. However, if you use the "hero" functionality (the call to action and big image) this will appear above it. You can always use CSS to position elements on the page as well.

Add this to
functions.php
.

add_action( 'init', 'move_breadcrumb_trail' );

function move_breadcrumb_trail() {

Hi Patrick,

They actually don't. Right now the styling for breadcrumbs is the default for the theme:

.breadcrumb {
border-bottom: 1px solid #bbb8a3;
font-size: 12px;
padding: 10px 20px;
}

so you can see that it "runs into" the sidebar and stops (you can also see it in Firebug).

What I'm trying to do is, roughly, figure out how to restructure so we have:

[header ]
[nav]
[breadcrumbs]
[content] [sidebar]
[comments] [still sidebar]
[footer across comments and sidebar]

Does that make sense?

Thanks in advance,
Anne

Hi Patrick,

I would like to move the Search Bar from the top right of the page to (for instance) the top of the widget column?
Would also then like to move the rest of the page up to hug the top.
Is this 'easily' accomplished; or am I asking for trouble down the line?

Many Thanks!

Got it - I'll change the size asap. As for the feature image, almost... It still only shows the thumbnail up there. I tried removing 'Thumbnail' and still no dice. Perhaps the get_the_image without the "array" ?

I'm still pretty newb-like to php.

Since you changed the size of the font for the category navigation you'll need to adjust the height of
#cat-navigation
 (line 456). 38px seems to work.

<?php

$video = get_the_video(array('Video'));

if($video == true):

echo $video;

else:

get_the_image(array('Medium','Thumbnail'),'feature');

endif; ?>

<div class="entry-content">

Try that code.
