Cool... I knew about creating a page and putting the template against it, but I had not found the "Reading" options... Thanks... Now have a page with the FP template served at the root URL...

I also finally figured out what needed to be done to "fix" the excerpts and headline categories... Apparently, there must be some no dupe code in the template... I didn't have enough posts to populate the two additional post features....

If you have the "featured", "excerpts", and 4 "headlines categories" set, you have to have AT LEAST five (5) posts to populate the first excerpt position, and nine (9) posts to populate the first Headline Category.

I need to put together a content import file to populate my prototype installs to test, config, edit, etc... Do you know of a good file to use that will populate everything, exercise all the typography, et al.?

Baby Blue Search Field: OK... Browser is Firefox v3.6
"Home" page with FP template does NOT have blue field. (Set as HOME in Reading)
"About" page with DEFAULT template gives blue field
"About" page with FP template gives blue field
"About" page with FP OR Default template AND set to POSTS Page in Reading does NOT have blue field (setting POSTS Page overrides FP template of course)
Clicking on ANY Category Page link in CAT NAV gives blue field.

NOTE: As each page is clicked, the field starts out the "correct" darker color, but then changes to the blue color. It takes a bit to change color... like the field color loads late in the page load.

The HTML code for the color is #DDEAF8 if this helps...

1. Create a page called "Home" or whatever you'd like to call it and then while editing that page look for the meta box that allows you to select a template. By default it says, "Default Template". Instead, select "Front Page". Then from the Settings tab go to Reading. You can change "Home" to be your front page.

2. Let me know if have anymore luck after following the previous step.

What browser are you seeing the blue search field in?

Liking Malleable! Questions though...

1) Can't figure out how to make the "Home" page use the FrontPage Template.
2) Put the FP template against the "About" page to test, and got the slider to show 2 of 2 posts... but I can't get the excerpts or headlines sections of the template to work.

http://s155367598.onlinehome.us/

Oh... and I will try to fix/figure it out it if I can as I customize the color pallette, but the search form field background color is the dark color on the default "home" page, but changes to a bluish color on single post, about (FP template), etc...

I've got a long way to go to catch up in the understanding of how the WP framework flows thru Hybrid, and thence to the child theme... I understand the concept, but I am having to learn a lot of new stuff as I go.... PHP, MySQL, more than basic CSS, etc... Diggin' it though.
