And it certainly depends on the situation...</p> <p>When talking about using Flash as a <em>part</em> of your website you'll generally get a thumbs-up from everyone. You just need to make sure that its a proper use of Flash. And what <em>is</em> a proper use of Flash? In my opinion, its something that can't be done using HTML or can be done much better using Flash. Usually this pertains to media.</p> <p>I think the conflict you're talking about comes from those that believe in standards-based web design and accessibility. Flash is a great tool, but myself and many others don't think it usually fits the bill for an entire website. You lose out on critical SEO, browser support, usability, and accessibility.</p> <p>Also, its not the WordPress community that is against certain uses of Flash, it's just those of us that think web design has to encompass a lot more than just a slick interface.</p> <p>As for the Flash addicts that oppose "purists", I'm not even sure if they exist anymore.
