Basechamp Feature Ideas

  1. Use this topic to give some ideas of what to include in the Basechamp theme. Try to make a case for whether it should be in the core or a plugin.

  2. Front-end file upload (post attachment)

Much like you can add attachments to posts from the back-end, having this functionality in the front-end would be nice as long as the interface was simpler.

For instance, size options, titles, captions, etc. aren't as necessary for our use. All we need is simple uploader (Flash and HTML).

Core: uploading files is pretty much a no-brainer when dealing with documents, screenshots, and mock-ups that are common in project management tools

  3. Calendaring System

To-do list items and milestones should have the ability to be likened with deadline dates.

Core: time management fits right into the idea of project management

  4. I'am thinking at two possible features :

    - Maybe a simple and modular wiki system (something like this : http://wp-wiki.org/) to consent collaborative writing of documents.

    - Over all a presentation page system for projects, something like the wordpress.org pages for the plugings, who consent an overview for every project : summary, instructions, link, authors...

And the support for the nice Members plugin from Justin... for managing roles and capabilities.

The collaborative writing is a good idea. It can already be done in the WP backend and even includes auto saves. It seems like if that information could be moved to the frontend it would achieve what you're looking for. Good idea.

Right now the plan for an overview page is to just list all of the recent activity. Beyond that, what kind of information would you like to see on a summary page? Keep in mind that it needs to be flexible enough for users of just about any project to find useful.

Members will certainly be supported (in the sense that any plugin will be). It may even be required, but I haven't figured out how all the user the management should work yet -- still experimenting.
